Land Rover Brake Service Near Miami, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Quick question – what is the most important safety system in your Land Rover? Is it your suite of airbags? What about the traction control system? Actually, it’s your brakes.

Your brakes are there for you every time you press the pedal, slowing the vehicle and stopping it. All of that takes a toll, and you’ll eventually need Land Rover brake service in Fort Lauderdale. What should you know about the service, though?

Pad Replacement and Rotor Resurfacing

The most frequently needed Land Rover brake service Fort Lauderdale area residents will need is to have their brake pads replaced. In many cases, your rotors will also need to be resurfaced at the same time, but this should be handled on a case-by-case basis and will depend on the condition of the rotors.

Over time, small amounts of pad material wear away through normal use. This leads to the pads becoming thinner and thinner. Eventually, they’re thin enough that the “squealer” – a metal tab installed for just this purpose – contacts the rotor and makes a loud noise to alert you to the fact that the pads are worn out.

Rotors also wear over time. They can become discolored and uneven, as well. In these cases, resurfacing the rotor can provide a smoother braking experience.

Brake System Inspection

Your brake system comprises multiple components, including brake lines, calipers, rotors, pistons, and the master cylinder. All of these should be inspected regularly. At Euromotive, we inspect your brake system during every visit. If we notice anything out of the ordinary, or if it is getting close to the time for service, we’ll let you know so you can decide what you’d like to do.

Brake Fluid Flush

Your brake system is hydraulic. That is, it uses fluid pressure to operate. When you press your brake pedal, the master cylinder responds by forcing brake fluid into the lines to move the pistons that push the brake pads up against the rotor. As a result, your car slows down.

Over time, the fluid in the system gets burned and dark. It also accumulates debris that can clog things up. A brake fluid flush removes all that old fluid, purges the lines, and replaces it with fresh brake fluid. We recommend that you have a brake fluid flush when necessary – there’s no hard rule on when that has to occur, as many factors will affect it. Primarily, that includes your braking habits. If you usually brake hard, your fluid will need to be flushed much sooner than someone who brakes gently.

At Euromotive, we’re European import specialists and can provide any type of Land Rover brake service you might need, from in-depth inspections to pad replacement and rotor resurfacing, brake fluid flushes, and even replacements of failed master cylinders and damaged brake lines.
