Land Rover Oil Leak Diagnostic and Repair Near Miami, Fort Lauderdale, FL

You back out of your garage one morning and there it is, staring you in the face – a black, oily spot on the floor. You’ve got an oil leak, so what should you do about it? It’s time to visit Euromotive for a Land Rover oil leak diagnostic and repair right here in Fort Lauderdale.

Are Oil Leaks Cause for Concern?

Given enough time and use, all engines will develop leaks. It’s simply the nature of things. Gaskets used to seal the gap between engine components suffer from high heat and will eventually degrade. As that happens, they’ll develop small leaks. In some cases, those leaks may never be noticed unless you’re looking at the engine from underneath. However, over time, they will grow. All leaks can become serious over time.

What Are the Most Common Oil Leaks?

Your Land Rover’s engine can develop oil leaks in many different places. However, some of the most commonly seen areas include the following:

  • Oil Leak at the Plug: Improperly attached or damaged oil plugs can leak, particularly if the gasket is damaged or missing.
  • Oil Filter: Oil filters can be damaged by objects flung up from the road and begin leaking (oil filter leaks must be remedied immediately).
  • Oil Pan Gasket: The oil pan attaches to the bottom of the engine and holds most of the oil. The gasket installed between the pan and the engine can eventually begin leaking.
  • Valve Cover Gasket: The valve cover is located on top of the engine, and is sealed with a gasket. If the gasket deteriorates, you may notice oil leaking out from under the valve cover and running down the engine.
  • Rear Main Seal: The rear main seal fits around the crankshaft and keeps oil inside the engine. If it begins to leak, you’ll notice wet oil where the engine and transmission come together.

Of course, there are many other potential sites for oil leaks. All of them can become serious. What’s more, they can increase in severity very quickly – you can go from having a minor leak to a major leak in virtually no time at all.
